Clair Obscur Sweeps at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded recently, and in a stunning display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the biggest winner. This breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's triumph, the gifted actors also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Top Studio. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers collected 7 awards throughout the event.
Additional standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Top Self-Published Indie and Best PC Game. Worth mentioning, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only 4 awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by experts.
