Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
